The Albury Wodonga Health Board has appointed Susan Delroi as Chief Executive Officer of Albury Wodonga Health. She will commence in the role on 17 July 2026.

Susan joins AWH from her current role as Chief Executive of HealthShare Victoria. She is an accomplished executive with extensive experience leading major public sector and health organisations through reform, with a strong background in strategic leadership, organisational change and corporate services. Living locally in the region, she also brings an understanding of the community AWH serves. Her previous roles have included Deputy Secretary, Corporate and Regulatory Services at Victoria Police, and Deputy Director-General, Corporate Service at Queensland Health.

AWH Board Chair Jonathan Green said Susan was an outstanding appointment for the health service and the region.

“Susan is a highly capable and respected leader who brings a powerful combination of strategic insight, executive experience and a genuine commitment to people and service.

“She has led successfully in large and complex organisations, including in the health sector, and the Board is confident she is the right person to lead Albury Wodonga Health into its next chapter.

“We also placed great importance on hearing directly from staff during this process. Their input helped shape the qualities we were looking for in our next CEO, and Susan’s appointment reflects that strong alignment.”

The recruitment process included direct staff involvement, with staff invited to share the attributes they wanted in AWH’s next Chief Executive and five staff members participating in discussions with shortlisted candidates.

Susan said she was pleased to be joining Albury Wodonga Health at an important time for the organisation and the region.

“I am honoured to be appointed Chief Executive Officer of Albury Wodonga Health. This is an organisation with an essential role in our region and a workforce deeply committed to caring for its community.

“I look forward to working with the Board, staff, volunteers, consumers and partners to build on AWH’s strengths, listen closely to our community, and help shape a strong and sustainable future for the service.”

The Board also thanks Professor Andrew Way for his service as Interim Chief Executive Officer. Since taking on the role in March, Professor Way has provided continuity and experienced leadership during an important period for AWH.

The Board acknowledges Professor Way’s contribution and thanks him for the leadership, stability and commitment he has brought to the organisation during the transition.

Professor Andrew Way said it had been a privilege to serve as Interim Chief Executive Officer during this transition period.

“I have greatly valued the opportunity to support Albury Wodonga Health and to work with such committed staff, volunteers and partners,” Professor Way said.

“I am confident the organisation will continue to go from strength to strength under Susan’s leadership.”
